Resin Sand Casting

We use furan resin sand technology to produce castings of various grades, including gray iron, ductile iron, and cast steel, weighing 200-10000 kg; Can produce various grades of copper castings weighing 50-5000kg;

The production cycle for grey iron and ductile iron blanks is 5-10 days;

The production cycle for cast steel and cast copper blanks is 30-45 days.


Basic Introduction to Resin Sand Casting

Resin sand casting is a casting process that uses resin as a binder to bond raw sand together, and hardens the sand mold into shape through a specific curing method, thus used to manufacture castings. Resin sand castings have the characteristics of small surface roughness, high dimensional accuracy, and good quality.


Grey cast iron: HT150, HT200, HT250, HT300

Ductile iron: QT350, QT400, QT450, QT500, QT550, QT600, QT700, QT800, QT900

Cast steel: ZG200-400 (ZG20, ZG25, ZG35, ZG45, ZG55), ZG270-500 (ZG30, ZG35, ZG40Mn, ZG45Mn), ZG30MnSi, ZG35MnSi, ZG20CrMo, ZG15Cr1Mo1V.


Stainless steel: ASTM

A351: CF3, CF8, CF3M, CF8M, CF8C, CF10M, CN7M, CG3M, CG8M, CN3MN, CK3MCuN;

ASTM A747: CB7Cu-1;

EN10213: 1.4308, 1.4408, 1.4581;

Advantages of Resin Sand Casting

The advantages of resin sand casting are as follows:


1. High casting precision:

Resin sand has good fluidity and can precisely replicate the shape of the mold. The dimensional accuracy of castings can reach CT7 - CT9 grade, which is higher than that of traditional sand casting. Meanwhile, its surface roughness is low, with an Ra value usually between 12.5 - 25μm, reducing subsequent processing.


2. High production efficiency:

Resin sand hardens quickly and can be demolded in a short time, enabling rapid molding and suitable for large-scale automated production.


3. High sand mold strength:

After curing, resin sand has high strength and can withstand greater pressure from molten metal. It can be used to manufacture complex-structured and thin-walled castings, reducing the use of sand cores and manufacturing costs.


4. Good collapsibility:

During the shakeout of castings, the resin sand will decompose and burn at high temperatures, making the sand mold easy to collapse. The sand grains are easy to remove during casting cleaning, reducing the cleaning difficulty and labor intensity.

The measures to ensure excellent surface quality in resin sand casting can be carried out from the following aspects:


1. In terms of the mold:

Use high-precision equipment to process the mold and conduct regular maintenance.


2. In terms of material selection:

Select high-quality raw sand and control the quality of resin and curing agent.


3. In terms of the molding process:

Precisely control the sand mixing parameters, compact the sand mold reasonably, and demold smoothly.


4. In terms of the pouring process:

Design a reasonable pouring system and strictly control the pouring temperature and speed.


5. In terms of environmental control:

Maintain the stability of temperature and humidity in the production environment.


6. In addition:

In the sand treatment process, strictly screen, remove impurities, and preheat the raw sand.


7. In terms of coating application:

Select suitable coatings and apply them reasonably.


8. In terms of quality inspection and control:

Inspect the sand mold after molding and before pouring, and conduct first-piece inspection and process inspection on the castings.
